Football Fans Anxious to Cheer on the Bills on the Road
It has become a rite of passage for the Bills Mafia to cheer on their favorite team on the road. Fans anxiously await the release of the Buffalo Bills schedule to begin choosing destinations where they’ll mix football with travel. It’s a winning combination that’s growing in popularity. In fact, a 2024 report by AAA and Bread Financial shows that younger generations are driving a surge in live event travel notably for sporting events and concerts.
“The release of the football schedule has fans ready to book travel, and this year there are many opportunities from a Monday night game in Atlanta to a Sunday afternoon game in Charlotte,” said Josie Nicotra, director of travel sales at AAA Western and Central New York. “While AAA can’t guarantee a win on the field, our travel advisors can ensure a winning experience when you combine a vacation with the fun of football!”
Easy Road Trips
Away games scheduled against the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers will give fans close-to-home road trip opportunities to nearby cities. They can tie in a visit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame or the Christmas Story house in Cleveland, while feasting on Primanti Bros. sandwiches in Pittsburgh after touring museums or historic sites.
Take off to the Jets
It’s a tradition for many fans to head to the Meadowlands either by car or by jet to see the Bills take on the Jets – this year, it’s the first away game of the season! Tying in a trip to the Big Apple is always an exciting opportunity to see a Broadway Show, visit the 9-11 Memorial, and enjoy everything the city has to offer.
Miami Beach Traditions
Miami is always a top destination for away games at Hard Rock Stadium. This year, fans will enjoy the opportunity to cheer on the team and hit the beach in November, while Bills Mafia will “take over” the Elbo Room in Ft. Lauderdale.
Texas is Calling
Why not travel to the Lone Star State? Houston is less than an hour from Galveston Island where beach life awaits. Fans could add a pre- or post-game getaway or even a cruise to Cozumel into the trip. Royal Caribbean recently invested $125 million into the Port of Galveston, so the state-of-the-art facility can accommodate larger cruise ships.
AAA Group Travel
Unfortunately, there aren't any international games on the schedule this year, which are always a hit with AAA travelers. AAA Group Travel is planning at least one domestic trip and is currently in multiple ticket lotteries. Trips, including airfare, hotel, game tickets, and more, will be announced at www.AAA.com/Groups as soon as tickets are secured.
Individual Travel
AAA doesn’t want any fans to experience FOMO, so with football fever in the air, AAA travel advisors are on standby to design packages for individuals and small groups who want to see the team on the road with an opportunity to tie in customized vacation experiences. Fans can call 1-800-937-1222 for more information. And at www.AAA.com/Tickets, fans can save valuable dollars on tickets at any stadium across the country – home or away.
