AAA Western and Central New York has hired Michael Schaefer to manage the Penfield and Greece AAA Travel and Insurance Centers. As branch manager for both locations, Schaefer will oversee all aspects of branch operations, drive sales growth, and enhance the AAA member experience.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining the team and continuing my career path with AAA,” said Schaefer. “I look forward to making a positive impact on both associates and members as I support the Club overall.”

Born and raised in nearby Bloomfield, New York, Schaefer comes to AAA from Raymour & Flanigan, where he worked in a variety of roles over the past eight years. Starting out as a member of the operations team, he later switched to sales, working his way from sales consultant to store manager. Schaefer is looking forward to applying his leadership skills and experience at both Rochester area branch locations while working closely with AAA associates.

“I’m eager to support and develop my teams here and to provide AAA members across the greater Rochester area with travel, insurance, driver training, and other services in 2026 and beyond,” he said.

“Mike brings a strong background in retail sales and a proven transition from sales into management, giving him a well-rounded perspective on both performance and people leadership,” said AAA Western and Central New York Senior Manager for Branch Operations Taña Garcia. “I’ve been especially impressed with how quickly he’s connected his prior management experience to AAA culture and aligned with the way we serve and grow our members.”

Schaefer attended SUNY Oneonta and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business economics with a concentration in finance.

In accepting his new role with AAA, Schaefer said, “I was in search of a reputable company whose values I could stand behind in an industry that excites me. Ultimately, I was looking for a position that would further develop my skills as a leader. AAA checked all those boxes.”

Schaefer lives in Penfield with his wife Danielle. They were married in September of 2024. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends.
