Beautiful Bermuda Awaits on a Special AAA Cruise

Imagine strolling along pink sand beaches, teeing off at world-class golf courses, or exploring underground caves. You can have all that and more when you visit the welcoming island of Bermuda.

Bermuda is actually a British overseas territory that is set out in the North Atlantic Ocean. The closest land is North Carolina, so cruising to Bermuda from New York is an easy route that is very popular.

When your cruise ship approaches the Royal Naval Dockyard, you’ll likely be snapping photos from an outdoor deck filled with excitement over exploring the island, which offers a mix of British and American flair that you simply can’t find anywhere else. The Dockyard itself is a massive complex, complete with shopping, museums, and more.

There are so many reasons to put Bermuda on your travel bucket list. Here are five that truly stand out:

  1. Pink Sand Beaches — Yes, it’s true! Bermuda is known for its sand that has a distinctive pink hue (thanks to coral and shell). Horseshoe Bay is the most popular, as it draws curious tourists in search of pink sand. It can get bus,y but keep walking along the shore to find secluded coves for Instagram-worthy photos. Since Bermuda is an island, there are beaches in every direction, so you’re sure to find one that suits you, from tranquil retreats to snorkeler’s delights.
  2. Have a Taste — I recommend taking an island tour so you can learn about Bermuda from those who know it best – the islanders. Along with an inside perspective about life in Bermuda from local guides, you’ll get to taste history and a Rum Swizzle, which is the island’s most popular drink made famous at the Swizzle Inn, Bermuda’s oldest pub.
  3. World Famous Views — I decided to get some steps in on our tour (185 to be exact) and climb to the top of the Gibbs Lighthouse, which dates back to 1846 for a magnificent view, even on a cloudy day! Also consider hiking or biking Bermuda Railway Trail where you’ll find scenic ocean views. The island itself is very picturesque, so you’ll have no shortage of scenery.
  4. Adventure Awaits — Adventure seekers have a lot to choose from in Bermuda and certainly won’t be bored. Try cliff jumping along the coast or go underground to explore Bermuda’s Crystal Caves. Head out on the water for sailing or try diving in the “shipwreck capital of the world.”
  5. Tee it Off — Whether you’re a golfer or not, it’s easy to appreciate that Bermuda is home to seven world-class golf courses in just 21 square miles. No matter if you choose to hit the links or hit the pro shop in search of authentic Bermuda shorts, a day of golf or shopping in Bermuda can’t be beat. For the authentic shorts, head to TABS in Hamilton, the capital city, where you’ll also find inviting dining and nightlife.

If you’re interested in visiting Bermuda and don’t want to attempt it alone, you’re in luck. AAA Group Travel offers several trips to Bermuda each year. For example, the AAA Big WECK Listener Trip, in conjunction with WECK radio station, will be led by AAA Group Travel Tour Host Brian Murray who will address any concerns and ensure that everyone has a wonderful time. I’ll also be there since I co-host the Talking AAA radio program on WECK each Saturday with Mark Gruba, who will also be on board to ensure you have a memorable vacation. We invite everyone to join us for a unique travel opportunity where you can relax knowing you’re getting the VIP treatment with special inclusions like a group cocktail party.

The trip is scheduled for September 13-18, 2025, and is a “no-fly cruise.” That means we can skip the airport and rely on luxury motor coach transportation from Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse, which is included. You won’t need to worry about airport security or flight delays. Instead, everyone on the trip will be dropped off right at the port in Cape Liberty, NJ. Before you know it, we’ll be sailing right past the Statue of Liberty and headed to Bermuda.

The best part of this trip? You’ll get two full days, including an overnight in Bermuda, and two full days at sea to enjoy Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas. You can enjoy personal time alone, or you can take part in activities and make new friendships with others on the trip. The choice is yours! We sure hope you’ll choose to travel to the beautiful island of Bermuda with AAA.
